MEMS
fabrication allows the creation of cell-scale architectures that
enable direct recording from individual neurons in the central
nervous system. Arrays of recording sites, as shown in these devices,
allow researchers to explore neural network properties, and are
being used for investigations of Alzheimer’s and Epilepsy.
