What is MEMS?
MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) is a mature technology that has enjoyed more than three decades of development in academia and industry. From its beginnings at Stanford, MIT and the University of Michigan, the central principle of MEMS is that micro-fabrication methods such as those used to develop integrated circuits can be applied to a much wider range of problems than just digital and analog circuits.

Today, MEMS sensors are found in virtually every automobile on the market, in consumer electronics, and in a wide range of medical products. However, the barriers to entry for the development of a new MEMS sensor or actuator can be substantial both in terms of cost and the necessary technical know-how. SB Microsystems offers a solution to this problem by utilizing extensive in-house design and test capabilities with fabrication through established foundries with whom we have existing relationships.
