SBM specializes in using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and other state-of-the-art fabrication processes to develop novel miniature sensors and instruments for our customers. Our in-house design and test capabilities and our existing vendor relationships allow us to accelerate the hardware development cycle so that customers can concentrate on their marketing and sales strategies. SBM is experienced in the development of custom sensors, as well as the integration of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) sensors into complex sensor networks and systems. We have worked on custom x-ray and IR (infrared) detectors including superconducting transition edge sensors, and integrated complete sensor systems into medical devices such as a capsule endoscope and an implantable hearing aid system. We have developed concepts and prototypes for an instrumented HVAC network, and worked with inertial sensors, particle detectors, piezoelectric actuators and sensors, and chemical sensors.
